QUEEN CARNIVAL
Today’s Open Air Activities For Movie Queen
The Movie Queen’s supporters in the Victory Queen Carnival will bring their week’s tenancy of the air-raid shelter in Featherston Street, Wellington, to a bright climax today with “all the fun of the fair.”' The spot has been a tremendously ac'tivq_niie all the week, and today promises to be more active and interesting than on all the other days put together. There are to be competitions, with attractive prizes, from 12.45 p.m. to 1.45, and these include a scooter race for boys, a Michelin motor tyre race, mother’s pram and baby race, and a challenge walking marathon between the “16-stoners,” Ross Meikle, Rus. Marlow, Arthur McLure, and Bob Stewart, all prominent in the Wellington movie world. A cask-rolling race with prominent citizens “Rolling out the Barrel” will be another great and amusing attraction. The Boys’ Institute Silver Band and the Harbord Studio of Stars will brighten things still further with music and melody, and no doubt many people will be interested to view the pony, “Movie Lass,” which Mr. A. J. Pascoe has presented for raffling. The modern “Lady Godiva” ensconced on his back will be a further temptation for would-be pony-owners to take more tickets. Last Friday’s successful tea dance at the Majestic Cabaret will be repeated again for the same good cause, and will be a fitting conclusion to the day’s hilarious activities,
