VETERAN YACHTSMAN SAILS AGAIN
Harbour Board Chairman Wins Keeler Race
The chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board, Mr. W. L. Fitzherbert, a veteran yachtsman, who had not sailed in a race for some 40 years, skippered the winning keel yacht, Wairere 11, in the Veterans’ Race at the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club at the weekend. Mr. Fitzherbert formerly sailed in the famous New Zealand racing yacht Rainbow. and many other well-known craft. The race was sailed in a light north breeze, which dropped and was succeeded by a light southerly. Times 1 were:— Wairere II (scr.). 5.6.30, 5.6.30, 1 ; V.’hakariri (scr.), 5.27.30, 5.27.30.. 2; Maranui (13). 5.47.15. 5.34.15. 3: Wai•cre I (10), 5.52.4, 5.42.4, 4. The Moffat Cup for first-class centrehoarders was won ’by Aloha, on handicap. Times were: —
