Advice lias been received that Flight. Lieutenant. Desmond 11. E. Barker, D.F.C., R.A.F., lias been killed in aril* operations. Ito was a son of Mi*, and Mrs. Richard Barker. Gisborne, ami joined the R.A.F. at. the outbreak of war. He was attached to a bomber squadron and had made many flights ever enemy territory. lie was awarded (lie D.F.C. shortly before Christmas. His only brother is iraining in the Ii.N.Z. A. F.

Before tin* outbreak of war Flight Lieutenant. Barker was studying Law ar Cambridge University.
