FIRST BIG EVENT

Fighting Services Ball For Queen Carnival The Fighting Services Ball for All, to be held in the Town Hall on Saturday, February 22, will be the first big event in the forthcoming Victory Queen Carnival campaign for patriotic funds. The Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association, sponsoring the Fighting Services Queen candidate, has placed the organizing of the ball in the bands of Miss Phyllis Bates, who conceived the idea of a real ball at a popular subscription for members of the lighting services and civilians. Something special in decorations is promised, and a buffet supper will be served in the concert chamber. Ballroom hostesses will look after girls and men who attend without partners. Tickets are on sale at the D.1.C.. Older people and non-dancers can assist by purchasing a ticket, which will entitle them to supper and a seat in the gallerv to view tlie dancing.

Supper contributions either of goods or money will be welcomed, and those wishing to contribute are asked to notify the organizer before Saturday next.
