MOULDY CAKES

Complaint From Soldier In Egypt

In a letter to “The Dominion” a Carterton resident writes of a brother serving with the forces in the Middle East, from whom a letter was received recently complaining that a large number of the cakes sent to members of his unit, were mouldy on arrival. The cakes were packed in tins and sealed with adhesive tape, but this apparently did not provide adequate protection, and many of the cakes bad to be thrown away.

To save disappointment to the soldiers. the writer suggests that all tins containing cake and other food for postage to the forces be soldered down.
