FOUR PRISONERS SENTENCED

Supreme Court Cases

Several prisoners came before Mr. Justice Johnston in the Supreme Court, Wellington, yesterday for sentence. Leo Sylvester Hannon, for whom Mr. G. I. Joseph appeared, was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment, on six charges of breaking, entering and theft in Wellington in August, September and October last.

Leonard Coffey, who had been found guilty of committing an indecent act in Wellington, was ordered to take out a prohibition order against himself, and fined £lO in default one month’s impris-' onment. Mr. C. H. Arndt appeared for prisoner.

Richard Katene, cheese factory hand, aged 21, for unlawfully entering a dwelling- in Taranaki by night with intent to commit a crime, was admitted to probation for 12 months, and ordered to take out a prohibition order against himself. Mr. T. P. Cleary appeared for accused.

Donald James Jones, labourer and seaman, aged 22, was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment on each of four charges of breaking and entering and theft in Wellington, the sentences to be concurrent.

Mr. W. It. Birks represented the Crown iu each case.
