OBITUARY

Mrs. E. C. Herring The death occurred on Monday after a long illness of Mrs. E. C. Herring, wife of Mr. H. E. Herring, former M.P. for Mid-Canterbury. The funeral took place yesterday, and the mourners included the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser; the Minister, of Finance, Mr. Nash; the Attorney-General, MiMason; the Minister of Lands, Mr. Langstone; Mr. R. A. Wright; Dr. W. B. Sutch, Messrs. F. 0. Temm, B. R. Turner, C. Firth and G. A. Lawn. The Housing Department was represented by Messrs. L. Cooper, W. Hirst, F. C. Basire aud C. Stubbs: and the executive of the Democratic Labour Party by Messrs. W. Thompson and W. Dick. The services were conducted by’ the Rev. O. E. Burton. The late Airs. Herring was well known in the Auckland and Canterbury districts, where she lived for many years.
