It "jts stated that though they were married after the date which was stipulated as bringing a man in the married category for military service, they bad been engaged for some years, the marriage being held up through delay in securing finance to build their home. Questioned by the Crown representative, Mr. C. O. Bell, regarding his conscientious objection, Antrobus said he believed that his marriage vows imposed on him an obligation to stay by his wife in all circumstances. He had not attended a church for many years but in his opinion it was not necessary to attend church to worMr. Bell: You have not adopted the expediency of conscientious objection to evade military duties?—No, 1 have always held the belief I do. ■Would you defend your home?—l cannot if I am sent away from it. Mrs. Antrobus said she was not prepared to minimize the financial loss sustained if her husband went into the army, by letting part of their house Mr. Bell: There are greater sacrifices being made in England.
