FRUITERERS FINED
Oranges Incorrectly Ticketed A suggestion that the Fruiterers’ Association should print instructions iu Chinese as well as in English, because the regulations governing prices had to be obeyed whether a man could read English or not, was made by Mr. Goulding, S.M., when a number of fruiterers were prosecuted in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday, for exposing oranges for sale at excessive prices and for failing to put price, grade and count labels on oranges and lemons. Referring to one defendant’s explanation that a price ticket had been accidentally turned back to front, he said the use of double-sided tickets was undesirable because such a ticket might be turned, round deliberately or accidentally. Heavier fines would be inflicted if similar cases came before the Court again.
