OFFICERS OF HOME GUARD
Training At Trcntham INSPECTION VISIT BY PRIME MINISTER
A visit Io Trentham Military Camp was made yesterday afternoon by the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, who inspected the work of the sjieciallyselected officers of the Home Guard and also some of (lie officers of the mounted rille units undergoing a course of training at the Army Training School. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones; the Associate Minister of National Service, Mr. Wilson; Mr. Hamilton, member of the War Cabinet; the Permanent Head of the Prime Minister's Department. Mr. C. A. Berendsen: the Chief of the General Staff, Major-General Sir John Duigan; and the Commissioner of Police. Mr. D. J. Cummings. The work and syllabus of training was explained to the visitors by the officers in charge of the course. Mr. Fraser, in an interview last night, said he was satisfied the training Home Guard officers were receiving would be of immense value in the subsequent instruction of the Home Guard. In due course the members of the Home Guard would find that they would be playing a most important and valuable part in the defence of New Zealand.
