Biennial Conference To Open On Monday Two hundred and fifty remits, covering a wide range of service as well as industrial questions, will be the subject of consideration at the biennial conference of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, which is to begin in 'Wellington on Monday. This conference, at which the policy of the society for the next two years will be framed, will be attended by 15 delegates from all over New Zealand and will be presided over by the national president, Mr. S. Gaspar, Hillside, Dunedin. It is expected that the newly appointed Minister of Railways, Mr. Semple, will pay the conference a visit on Tuesday. On Monday the president’s opening address will be delivered, with the report of the general secretary, Mr. L. Mcllvride. The following delegates were elected at the recently conducted biennial election : Messrs. W. A. Wright, East Town; J. S. Berry, Palmerston North; J. H. Terry, Frankton Junction: (>. Mouton. New Plymouth: P. McLennan, Penrose; .1. A, Barton. Marton; .1. Elliot, Otahuhu; J. Taylor, Woburn; A. B. Grant, Christchurch; D. M. Kirkwood, Dunedin; T. E. Daly, Otira; J. L. Creighton, Palmerston; 'l'. Carroll, Addington; A. McDonald, Hillside. Tlte following exe<-iitive council was elected for the ensuing two years; Messrs. W. A. Wright, J. S. Berry, J. H. Terry, J. A. Barton, J. Taylor. D. Cadigan (Dunedin), J. L. Creighton and A. McDonald. Quarter-master Sergeant J. W. Morgan, formerly vicepresident of the society, is overseas with the l’th Railway Operating Company.
