ORGANIZING THE HOME GUARD
Committee Set Up In Hawke’s Bay Dominion Special Service. NAPIER, August 24. The functions of the Home Guard were outlined to a meeting of local body representatives in Napier by the AssistantMinister of National Service, Mr. Wilson, in the course of the campaign which he and the Minister of National Service, Mr Semple arc conducting to launch the "Hard in New Zealand. The requirements and duties of the guard were described fully by Mr. Wilson, after which the meeting decided to extend its full support to the scheme. ■• , TI „ . On the motion of the mayor of Hastings, Mr. Maddison, the Hawkes Baydistrict was defined as that of the Patriotic Council’s zone, and a provisional committee for the whole district was appointed with the same personnel as the executive of the Patriotic Council This comprises the mayors of Napier and Hastings, the chairman of the Hawke’s Bay County Council,, and the clerks of the Napier and Hastings Borough Councils, and the clerk of the county council; organizations will ne set up by the local bodies concerned in each area.
