HOME GUARD

Action Against Fifth

Column

Dominion Special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, August 22.

The formation of the Home Guard, as visualized by the Minister of National Service. Mr. Semple, should effectively deni with any potential fifth columnists in New Zealand, according to a declaration made by the Minister when explaining the duties and organization of the Home Guard to a conference of local body delegates yesterday. “If you build this organization as I picture it, no fifth column could live in New Zealand.” he said. "That is because you will know where they are and (with emphasis) if we know where they are they will soon know where they will be.”
