Activities Maintained Despite the departure of more than lb members to serve with the Forces, the programme of activities was being successfully maintained, stated a report submitted tv a meeting of the board of directors of the Wellington Y.M.C.A. this week. The boys’ department had experienced a particularly successful month, and the junior membership rolls, botli in the main building and in the suburban groups, were increasing. Arrangements bud been made for a comprehensive programme of holiday activities to cover-the school vacation period. This included visits to industrial plants and other places of educational interest, as well as short tramps and competitive visits to the Hutt Valley YMCA. • An average of 80 members was attendin'' the Optimists’ Club's weekly luncheons. Members of this club were giving regular service in connexion with the work for soldiers at weekends. There were 3U enrolments in a course of instruction for the St. John Ambulance Association firstaid certificate. The other senior clubs were maintaining regular attendances. During July, 809 beds had been Provided in dormitories for soldiers on leave, and many expressions of appreciation or .this service had been received. 1 lie sol(liers’* teas ob Sundays maintained their popularity.
