FEEDING FOR INCREASED PRODUCTION
Deficiency diseases in stock are a potent factor in the reduction of a farm’s producing power, yet these troubles can be prevented easily and inexpensively. Normally, Nature provides in the right proportions all the food required by healthy stock. Man, however, too often upsets the finelyadjusted balance and deficiency diseases are the result. Minerals, though they- comprise only a small portion of the animal’s body, and yet enormously important, and mineral starvation in’ one form or another, is the basis of the deficiency diseases which levy a heavy toll on tiie production effort in the shape of unhealthy, stock, stunted growth, infertility and diminished returns. The problem of supplying.these deficiencies in animal diet in their correct propor-. tions is answered by the use of Tip Top meals.
Tip Top meals are the result of carefully-checked scientific experiment, investigation and testing. They supply in a complete and balanced form ■all the mineral requirements of the growing and producing animal, and are a simple method of prevention of
deficiency trouble. They are doubly inexpensive in that the low cost is coupled with proven results that pay handsomely. This, incidentally, is a fact known and proved to hundreds of farmers.
Take, for instance, Tip Top lodised Calf Meal. This well-balanced meal, ndxed with skim milk, costs less than one halfpenny per day to give a calf two meals of equal food value to the same quantity of new milk. One hundred pounds will feed ten calves for twelve weeks at a cost of 2d. per calf per week. Easy to handle, too. Simply mix it with boiling water to a porridge consistency, then stir into skim milk or whey. The result is an ideal food on which to roar calves.
A point for farmers to remember is that only half of the food consumed by the full-grown animal is converted into useful products. The other half is used by the animal simply for bodily maintenance. For increased production, therefore, correct feeding is of inestiable importance. Too much protein, insufficient calcium or phosphorus, lack of iodine, all produce serious results. Tip Top lodised Mineral Meal ensures that the stock will obtain every mineral in exactly the correct proportions necessary for highest production. It’s bonemeal content, carefully-balanced richness in protein, phosphate, calcium, iodine and iron make it a potent factor in stepping up the returns on the farm, and improving stock health.
Pigs are required in huge numbers, and no other line of farming can be brought to profitable production as rapidly as pig breeding, provided it is tackled scientifically. The first idea to be discarded is that old and dangerous one of haphazard feeding. A meal which fails to supply the right quality and quantity of protein—a factor of utmost importance in pig breeding—is dear at any price. Insufficiency or incorrect balance in mineral foodptoo, is one of the prime causes of sterility. Tip Top lodised Pig Meal provides all the necessary elements, in their correct balance. It ensures steady, healthy growth, freedom from trouble and quicker and more positive returns. Tip Top meals, which are manufactured by the Wairarapa Farmers’ Coop. Association, Ltd., may be ordered at any merchant or stock firm.
