CIGARETTES FOR SOLDIERS

A.M.P. Society Social Club

For the second time members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force will benefit through the generosity of the A.M.P. Society social club. A representative of the club called yesterday afternoon on Mr, G. A. Hayden, secretary-treasurer of the National Patriotic Fund Board and, handed him a cheque for an amount subscribed by members of the club which will enable the board to purchase 15,000 cigarettes for distribution to New Zealand soldiers on board ship. Earlier in the year the club made a donation for a similar purpose. On that occasion the money bought 10,000 cigarettes. This action of the A.M.P. Society social club is greatly appreciated, in the first place because it has been taken spontaneously, and in the second place because it represents collective effort by a staff and affords an illustration of what can be accomplished by movements of this kind by staff's in general.
