Government Grants

The annual statement of accounts of Otago University reveals that Government grants increased between the years 1937 and 1940 by £11,750, the major increases being arts and general by £4750 and medical by £4250. The treasurer comments that these increases enabled an improvement in the salaries of the teaching staff, and the provision of additional stalling. The standard salary of professors of arts and the Science Faculty is now £lOOO, and the salary of full-time professors, of the Medical Faculty ranges from £l2OO to £2OOO.
