Payne—Carter

> The Methodist Church, Ekelahuna, was artistically decorated on a recent evening when a wedding of much interest throughout the district took placp. The bride, Holly Joan, only daughter of the late Lieutenant. S. 11. Carter and of Mrs. H. J. Jones, Kongokokako, was married to Phillip, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. It. R. Payne, Eketiihuna. The Rev. lan Hopper otficiatcd. Tiie bride, who was escorted by her stepfather, wore a beautiful gown of heavy creme lace over ivory satin and falling iu a long train. She wore a beautiful full length creme embroidered veil covering the face and over a halo of orange blossom. The veil was a gift from a friend iu Auckland. She carried a beautiful sheaf .of white canna lilies, also presented by a near relative.

Miss A'alrmi Jones and Aliss Muriel Smith were the bridesmaids and they wore attractive mauve and net. frocks and each carried a posy of irises and freesias. Each wore a sliver halo. Little Rae Farrow acted as train bearer and flower girl. She wore a full length frock of salmon pink georgette and band of contrast ing flowers around the head rind carrying a long silver basket of daphne and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. Jack I’ayno, and Sergeant Ralph Crowther Jones, Rongotni Aerodrome, step-brother of the bride. During the sighing of the register, Mrs. 11. Speight, Masterton, aunt: of the bride sang “Because." The reception was held at the home of Mr. and Airs. Jones, Rongokokako, where a very enjoyable evening wtts spent by numerous relatives and friends. Mrs. Jones, mother of the bride, wore chysanthe and Jondon tan accessories. Airs. I’ayno. mother of the bridegroom, wore a tailored navy check ensemble with navy accessories and a fur necklet. Air. and Mrs. P. Payne's home will be in Eketalurna.
