Gough—Hosie

A pretty wedding took place recently in St. James’ Church, Lower Hutt, when Mavis Evelyn Ivy, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hosie, was married to James Robert Franz, youngest son of Mrs. L. Gough. The Rev. 11. Fry officiated.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of white embossed satin with pink rosebuds finishing the train. The veil was lent by the bride's sister, Mrs. I. Gaudin, and her shower bouquet was of pink roses and white lilies. The bridesmaids were Misses Eunice Hosie, the bride's sister, chief, and Ethel Flux, and the matrons of honour were Mesdames Joyce Gaudin and Lilian Hall. The attendants wore rainbow-hued period frocks of taffeta in shades of mauve, blue, orange and green respectively. They were made with niched skirts and sleeves and heart-shaped necks. They wore topknots and shoulder veils to tone and carried matching, muffs. The (lowergirls, Beryl and June Hosie and Nita O’Leary, were in salmon crepe de chine frilled frocks with matching hats triinmed with wood-fibre roses. Each carried a basket of forget-me-nots. Air. Douglas Gough, brother of the bridegroom, was best man and the groomsmen were Messrs. Marry Gough, .fames Hosie and Ivan Gaudin. The ushers were Messrs. R. and H. Hosie. The bridesmaids and flower-girls each wore a silver cross and chain, the gift of the bridegroom. During the signing of the register, Miss Madelene Gough sang “Because.” A. reception was held in the U.S.A. hall, Lower Hutt, where 275 guests were entertained. The bride and groom each received several cablegrams from Australia. The bride's mother wore a navy ensemble with hat to tone and the bridegroom’s mother was in a brown ensemble with matching hat. For travelling the bride wore a rustbrown frock with hat and coat to match'.
