AWAPUNI NOTES Horses For Wanganui Di)-,i inion Special Service PALMERSTON N„ August 21. There has been very little galloping of interest during the last fortnight, but in view of the Wanganui meeting (to be held on the Awapuni racecourse) there will now be more activity. Judging by the list of nominations the racing should fulfil all that is required. Luke Wilson has his team —Old Bill, All Quiet, Moradabad, Jumna and Golden Moon—looking particularly well but so far they have only been usefully employed. Old Bill bolds his condition well. He will probably contest the sprint event at the Wanganui meeting. All Quiet is fairly well forward, but Moradabad, who has furnished splendidly, may require time. Golden Moon (Tiderace —Fintry) looks smart, and in her exercises stretches out nicely. Quadroon is on the resting list. Old Bill was partnered by Moradabad over four furlongs, completed, under a strong hold, in 57. All Quiet (Tattersail) and Inform (Broughton) were restricted to an easy five. Golden Moon (Tattersail) strode along freely over three. Jumna was given pacework. Having benefited by her rest, Classform is exercised on the roads, but will be on the tracks again in about a week’s time. A few months’ rest, has made a great difference in the appearance of Goldburn, and she will resume work next week. Harbour Bar and Tigreterre will be seen out under silk at the Egmont-Wa-iiganui Hunt Club meeting. The latter, piloted by Paul Rae, drew attention to his future prospects by the bold style in which he went two rounds over the big obstacles. Harbour Bar IP. Jarvis) accomplished a similar task, and he. too. gave u sound display. Without being hurried, Colonel Hogey ami Bonidon ran smartly over seven furlongs. In recent, gallops Ihe latter has shown definite improvement. Ho will bo raced nt the 'Wanganui meeting. Thrasos. also an inmate of Jim Kelly’s stable, lias only to race up to his appearance to pay his way. After a spell of short duration, he is again being exercised. Kelly recently broke in a two-year-old colt by Inflation from La Jean. This youngster bears n strong resemblance to his sire, and Is extremely docile. Chary’s track work denotes that he retains his pace. He strode leisurely in j the early part of a round, but came home the last three in 40. Goldbridge and Luarth were equal _ to running live furlongs in 1.10. finishing ( with a lot in reserve.
