MOTOR-SHIP KOPARA STILL DELAYED
Dismissal Of Seamen
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 21.
Sufficient men were again not available to man the Richardson Line motorship Kopara, whose sailing for the east coast was delayed on Tuesday night after one able seaman had been dismissed and another had left the ship. Auckland seamen have not offered themselves for the positions, feeling that the dismissed man should be reinstated. The matter had been referred to the Minister of Labour. Mr. 'Webb, said Mr. P. Wallis, manager of Watkin and Wallis Ltd., agents for the ship, and it was hoped that the ship would be able to sail at nine o’clock tomorrow morning. One man had offered himself, but as two men were required, and the company was not prepared to pay him wages while he waited idle till another man was engaged, he was not engaged.
