Admission Of European Nationals Stopped
"The sweepings of Europe can no longer enter New Zealand,” said Mr. J. E. Hunt, president of the Wellington branch of the Royal Society of St. George, at a meeting last night. As a result of previous remarks of his concerning alien migration into New Zealand being reported in the Press, he had received a letter that pointed out there was no doubt collusion existed in high places, be said, making it possible for aliens to enter Australia and after residing there six months to come to New Zealand. Peeling that attention should be (irawn to such a state of affairs, lie wrote to the Minister of Customs. Mr. Nash. The Minister replied that in view of present conditions lhe Government: bad decided as a general practice to grant: no permits to enter Now Zealand to nationals of European countries', whether they bad been resident in British territory or not.
