Waste Of Paper
Sir,— Regarding “Anti-Lip-Service’s” letter: the manufacturer of the breakfast food has his reasons for the use of so much wax paper, etc., in keeping his product as fresh as possible. However, regarding the grocer wrapping the parcel, it is obvious that his wife was to blame for allowing the grocer to do this. Surely she watched him wrap the package, and it was her duty to stop him from doing so. On two occasions the Wellington Master Grocers’ Association has ap;>ealed to the public through “The Dominion” to assist conserving the supply of wrapping paper, and has met with some success. ' However, there are still some people who will not bring baskets or bags, and naturally grocers have no option but to wrap goods unless requested not -to do so.—l am, etc. —E. C. RUSSELL, on behalf of the Grocers’ Association. Wellington, August 21. •
