ANOTHER OFFER OF LAND
Drive For More Production GREENMEADOWS MISSION STATION Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS, June 18. The latest Hawke’s Bay offer of land to assist in increasing production has come from Greenmeadows Mission Station. Tlie manager, Father D. C. Milligan, has offered the Waitangi property of 120 acres to the Government for the period of tlie war and six months after or for two cropping periods, whichever is the longer. Tlie property consists of country which produces well. With tliis the total area now available in Hawke's Bay is 570 acres, 270 of which are on the Heretaunga Plains and the remaining 300 acres represent good grain country in. Central Hawke's Bay. Difficulty in handling the land for cropping lies in tlie fact tliat the National Council of Primary Production has no funds for this purpose, and so far the Government has made no finance available for work of this kind. However, it appears likely that through co-operation of merchants in Hawke’s Bay the land offered for cropping in this province will be utilized to the full.
