. Changes In Recent Years Estimates of gross farming income for the 1938-39 production year are given in the latest monthly Abstract of Statistics. The substantial increases iu gross farming income in 1935-36 and 1936-3 < were followed by a fall in .1937-38, mainly accounted for by the lower level or wool prices. A slight decline, from the 1937-38 total occurred in 1938-39. due to lower prices in the pastoral group, which fell from £32,000.000 m 1931-3 b to £29,800.000 in 1938-39. This fall of £2,200,000 in the pastoral group was partly offset by increases, due to hignei prices, of £900,000 in the agricultural group, aud £200,000 in the dairying, etc., group.
