REPORTED NAZI THRUST NEAR ROTTERDAM

(Received May 15, 1.30 a.m.)

LONDON, May I 4.

Since the official French communique was issued, an agency message indicates that today may see an attempt by the German advance guard to cross the Meuse River. One agency report indicates that Sedan has possibly been taken by the Germans. This city is the focal point of the great battle for the Meuse. It was officially announced in Paris earlier this morning that particularly hard fighting is proceeding in the immediate vicinity of Sedan.

The Germans are reported to have been checked at Longwy (not Louville as earlier reported), which is still being held by French troops inside the city. Belgium still holds its positions at Liege. The German advance is still well in front of the .Maginot Line, which has not been pierced at any point. ATTACKS IN WEST HOLLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) An Amsterdam message says that a German mechanized column is reported to be in the vicinity of Dordrecht (10 miles south-east of Rotterdam) after a lightning drive across North Brabant. The Dutch High Command states that last evening the Germans attacked the enclosing dam of the Zuyder Zee after one hour’s preliminary artillery fire.
