“SWITZERLAND”

Short Return Wellington Season Begun

The lovely ice show and ice ballet. “Switzerland," which lias- begun a short return season in Wellington, has everything that makes a good show—attractive personalities, beautiful settings, sparkling hv.niour, and bright music. The grace and expel tness of Megan Taylor in her execution of every known figure in ice skating, in whirling pirouettes that confound the eye. and in her unerring sense of balance, is a revelation in this art. Phil Taylor's daring athleticism on skates, his lightning speed, his- wonderful pei-formanee on stilts, and his elegance in the dance, show why he has u world reputation: and the elegance with which he, in while satin court dress <>f the seventeenth century, dunces the minuet with the sylph-like Elsie Heathcote—all within the space of a square of real ice 40 feet by 30 feet is one of the notable events on the programme. Two other expert and beautiful skaters who catch the eye are Patricia and Joy MacKinnon, and another clever member of the company is Diana Grafton. Eddie Marcel is n eompere-coinedinn of AVest End standard. Connie Graham is a gifted mimic, and Tommy Bussell and Ernie Marconi fool amusingly with their music.
