Sir Francis Frazer, deputy-chairman of the Executive Commission of Agriculture, who visited Da rgaville last week, has returned to Wellington. Mr. W. F. Stilwell, SAT., Wellington, is visiting Auckland. Professor I. L. G. Sutherland, Christchurch, came to Wellington at the weekend. The Rev. J. G. Inkster has returned to Wellington from his trip to the South Island. Mr. N. E. Anderson, temporary employers’ representative on the Court of Arbitration, returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday morning. Mr. J. C. McKenzie, stationmaster at Invercargill, will retire on May 21. after having completed 40 years in the service of the Railways Department. Mr. E. A. Wallace. Wellington, New Zealand agencies manager for Burroughs, Ltd., was a passenger in last night’s steamer for Lyttelton. Mr. 11. Clay, manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company, Limited, went south last night and will return to Wellington next week. Mr. A. Higgins, Auckland manager of the Empire Printing and Box Manufacturing Company Limited, left, on his return by last night’s Limited express from Wellington. Mr. W. K. L. Dougall, a second lieutenant with the third echelon, was admitted a barrister and solicitor on the motion of his father, Mr. L. A. Dougall, bv Mr. Justice Nortlicroft. in the Supreme Court. Christchurch, oil Friday. Mr. Walter Dougall represents tlie third generation in his family to enter the legal profession.
Archdeacon W. J. Simkin, Archdeacon of Matmkau, will be consecrated as a bishop in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Auckland, on -lune 11, and the same day the new bishop will be enthroned - in the cathedral and will receive jurisdiction over the Auckland diocese, rhe I primate, Archbishop West-Watson, will preside at. both services. He will be •issisted in Iho consecration by the Bishops of Waikato. Wellington, and I lunedin. Mr. S. Conway, president of the Wellington section of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club, who has joined the New Zealand Artillery Signallers, and will proceed to military camp shortly was farewclled by members on Saturday. Sweeny, spoke of the active'enthusiasm of Mr. Conway, who, he said, bad climbed from ail the big rivers of Canterbury, pioneered new routes in Hie Arrowsmith Range, and made many ascents on Hie Main Divide uf Hie Southern Alps. His qualities had made him a popular president and elub members joined in wishing him I the best of luck when on active scrI vice overseas.
