Borough Council Approves Of Loan Application £250 TOR SICK AND WOUNDED FUND The Lower Hutt Borough Council last night, on the motion of the mayor, Mr. Andrews, approved of the Wellington Hospital Board applying for authority to borrow approximately £254,250 for the erection of the Lower Hutt hospital. The mayor said the levy had been reduced this year, and the proposed loan would bring it up to the same amount as last year. Sick and Wounded Fund. The mayor referred to the appeal launched by Lady Galway for the sick, wounded and distressed fund. He said Ihe contribution from the Lower Hutt district on a pro rata basis would be £3500. but he considered that the council should give a lead by making an individual contribution. He moved that ilie council should give £250. Cr. AV. C. Gregory said the donation would not amount to as much as threepence a head of the citizens. The motion was carried unanimously. Biddiford Baths. The supervisor ot’ the Riddiford Bathis, Mr. C. D. Richardson, reported Hint toward the end of the season the main pool at the baths bail developed a loss ot water to the extent of 12 inches in 24 hours.
