Despite the severe weather recently experienced in the Wairarapa, mushrooms continue to come away iu large quantities. Some parties picking over the fields in the vicinity of Mastertou on Sunday found more than they could carry away, and elsewhere in the district, notably at Alt. Bruce, large crops are much in evidence. These big crops are not likely to last much longer, however, as there have been heavy falls of snow in the ranges during the past few days, and these precede sharp frosts, which would clear away all trace of fupgi very quickly. Special attractions in Wellington this week have resulted in exceptionally heavy bookings of seats on southbound trains. So heavy was the demand for accommodation yesterday morning in Hastings and Napier that a special relief express was run. There is a big inquiry for seats for the end of the week, the closing of the Centennial Exhibition being the attraction.
