WEDDING

Harding—Beech

The wedding was solemnized in St. Patrick’s Church, Masterton, on Easter Monday, of Una Mary, second daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. John Beech, Masterton, and Colin Clive, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Harding, Masterton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Moore, and Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father Dillon. Mrs. Bunny presided at the organ and “Ave Maria” was sung by Miss Beulah Hirst. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr. E. Lemberg, Palmerston North, wore a beautiful gown of white embossed satin, cut on classical lines, the full skirt falling to form a long train,, which was finished with satin loops, slightly larger than those at the wrist. The gown had a heart-shaped neckline. The beautiful lace-edged veil (kindly lent by Mrs. Alf Southey), was held in place by a coronet of lace and orange-blossom. The bride carried a bouquet of white gladioli and carnations.

The bridesmaids were Miss Hazel Beech (sister of the bride), and Miss Josephine Johnston. They wore frocks of apricot and mauve organdie respectively, cut on the same lines as the bride’s, the skirts being sprinkled with organdie Howers. They wore shoulder veils of matching net and carried dainty niched muffs of organdie finished with flowers and streamers to tone. The flower-girl was Jocelyn Jackson, a small niece of the bride, who made a charming picture in a dainty gown of blue organdie, the full gathered skirt being sprinkled witn apricot and mauve flowers. She carried a Victorian posy of flowers in the three shades with ribbons to tone. At the door the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by Miss Margaret Costello. The best man was Mr. B. Howard, Masterton, and Mr. T. Beech, of Palmerston North, brother of the bride, was groomsman.

The reception was held at the Savage Club, the guests being received by Mrs. Beech, assisted by Mrs. F. Harding. The former wore a frock of beige lace under a fitting coat of matching georgette, with brown accessories and an autumn-tinted shoulder spray. The bridegroom’s mother wore au ensemble of navy satin with accessories to tone and autumn-tinted shoulder spray. Mr. Ben Seddon, Lower Hutt, was master of ceremonies.

Mr. and Mrs. Harding left later for the north, the bride wearing a smart ensemble of marina blue with brown accessories.
