SYDNEY HARBOUR COLLISION
Inquiry Reopened (Received April 7, 2.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 6. The marine court of inquiry into the collision of the Blue Star liner and Union Company freighter on March 8 was reopened today somewhat dramatically upon a request by Mr, Windeyer, K.C., who is appearing for the Blue Star line. Evidence was given to the eitect that, while grappling for the body of the drowned seaman near the Harbour Bridge, David Miller recovered a 10 or 12-inch hawser. Mr. Windeyer suggested that the hawser belonged to the Union Company’s freighter, which was badly damaged in collision, and also that it was being held down by the freighter’s anchor. _ _ Mr. Evans, appearing for the Union Company, said be would not deny that the hawser belonged to the Union Company's freighter. He argued that it was not important whether the anchor was within 100 feet of Miller's Point, as there was no evidence as to when it. fell off the ship. He claimed that the finding of the hawser proved nothing. 'The.inquiry was further adjourned till next Thursday.
