Need For Protection Of Britain MINISTER AT RECRUITING RALLY I By Telegraph—Press- Association.) OHRISTC'IHRCII. March 15. A warning that New Zealand was in a position of danger was given this evening 'by Hie Minister of Defence. Mr. Jones, at a recruiting rally. "Some say our isolation gives ns protection." said the .Minister. "Are wc safe? We know that in tlie last war mines were laid round this coast by a raider. What happened in tlie last war can happen in this war. "We are in a position of danger, specially to our shipping ami our.own people.” Some also said, "Why can’t New Zealand keep out of the war?” Britain was the 'best customer for the Dominion's products. What would happen to Hie products if New Zealand took up a stand not to assist Britain? Great Britain had promised to do all she possibly could if we were attacked to see that, wc were adequately protected. The people of this country had to realize that we were being bellied and all that that meant.
