Two dogs, the property of Captain O. Blindheim, master of a Norwegian motor-ship, now at Auckland, are popular ship's pets. Unable to go tor a run ashore,' they are allowed the freedom of the ship’s bridge while in port, doors having been constructed at the head of the ladders to hold them in cheek. Their presence on the bridge serves as an adequate protection in port, as loud barking will betray the presence of any stranger.
