Lady Galway To Perform Ceremony PLUNKET CARNIVAL CLIMAX Gratification is felt by the Wellington Plunket. .Society I hat her Excellency, La<ly Galway, has consented lo be present’ at. the ball on March 15, which will be lite grand climax to the society’s queen carnival, and that she will perform the ceremony of crowning the successful candidate as queen. There will be several debutantes, and they include two girls from Christchurch. As the carnival, which is being held to raise funds tor Ihe Plunket Society and the Sir Truby and Lady King Karitane Hospital, progresses, the public interest is growing. Parties •Ju.i dances are the order of the day, and tile four committees are working bird to advance their own candidates. Yesterday, Miss Suzanne Botlmmley, who is the air force queen, was in the lead, and tonight a pierrot concert in being sponsored for her cause in the parish hall, Karori. She is closely followed by the army queen, Miss Patricia Gledhill. Miss Rutli. Dixon sponsored a successful picture party for her cause last night, and today Airs. 0. K. Steele is giving a party. On Friday Airs. Eric Reeves will give an afternoon competition party, and in the evening Misses Denise Puttick and Alarie Yeats-Jol.es are holding a dance in the Wellington Rowing Club rooms. There have been many parties for Aliss Patsy Ashbolt, the Merchant Service queen. A very delightful tennis and garden party was held last Saturday at Airs. Stitchbury’s home, Lowrv Bay, and the guests had an enjoyable time taking part in a treasure hunt, playing games and swimming. The hostess provided a delicious afternoon tea. Last Friday her junior committee arranged a well-supported dance and party in flic English Speaking Union’s' rooms, and Mrs. Gordon Hfircourt also sponsored an evening party at her home in Hill Street. Next Saturday a novel shipboard game evening will be held in the English Speaking Union’s rooms, tlie sponsors being Air. Erie Kimball and Air. John Gordon, members of the junior committee.
