AUCKLAND, March 3. “The Prime Minister of Canada is extremely anxious to strengthen the bonds that unite Canada and New Zealand,” said Dr. W. A. Riddell, new ly-appointed Canadian High Commissioner to New Zealand, on his arrival from Vancouver. Dr. Riddell, who will make his headquarters in Wei lington. is accompanied by Mrs. Riddell. their son and two daughters. Formerly charge d'affaires at th Canadian Legation in Washington, and for 12 years Canadian representative of lhe League of Nations, Dr. Riddell has had a distinguished scholastic and diplomatic career. Before going to Geneva he was Minister of Labour in Ontario and had been attached to the Canadian Legation in Washington since 193'7. Dr. and Mrs. Riddell ant. their family will probably leave for Wellington tomorrow night.
