Bly—Hopkinson

St. Peter’s Church, Paekakariki, was the scene of a pretty wedding recently, when Elizabeth Taylor, fourth daughter of Mrs. and the late -Mr. J. Hopkinson, Granity, AVestport, was married to Arthur Keith, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Bly, Paekakariki. The Rev. Mr. Goertz was the officiating minister. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr. J. T. Hopkinson, Paekakariki, wore a beautiful gown of magnolia satin, made with a softly pleated bodice forming a V neckline, which was finished with a spray of orange blossom. The full skirt fell into a long fan-shaped train. The long sleeves ended in points over the hands. Her beautifully embroidered veil (lent by Mrs. G. Wilson, Palmerston North), which was worn over her face on entering the church, fell to form a second train, and was held with a coronet of magnolia lilies. She carried a sheaf of cream gladioli, lilies and maidenhair fern.

The bride was attended by her niece. Miss Edna Goddard, Christchurch, who wore a cherry red georgette frock, made on similar lines to the bride’s, with a long train, the gathered bodice being finished down the front with tiny buttons. She wore • a shoulder veil of cherry red tulle, held with a top-knot of cream gladioli, and she carried a sheaf of cream gladioli. Twin nieces of the bride, little Beverley and Valerie Mann, Granity, Westport, were flowergirls, and were in full-length frocks of cherry red georgette, the bodices of which were shirred back and front. On their heads they wore dainty flat hats of frilled cherry red net. tied with long red ribbons, and they carried cream posies. The duties of best man were carried out by the bride’s brother-in-law, Mr. A. Mann, Granity. As the bride was leaving the church she was presented with a lucky horseshoe by little George Rice, nephew of the bridegroom. After the ceremony a reception was held at St. Peter’s Hall, where Mrs. J. Hopkinson, mother of the bride, . received the guests, assisted by tlie bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. J. Bly. Mrs. Hopkinson was wearing a frock of black faconne georgette, worn with a hip-length coat of the same material, and a black model hat. Mrs. Bly wore a two-piece suit of smoke grey, and a navy hat with navy accessories. The bride travelled in a model frock of mulberry toning, with mulberry accessories, and an embossed coat of peacock llama cloth, with a fox fur stole, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. and Mrs. A. Bly’s future home will be iu Paekakariki. Wakelin —Rickman A quiet wedding took place recently in All Saint’s Church, Kilbirnie, when Isabel, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Rickman, Hataitai. was married to Wylie, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. AV. J. AVakelin, Hataitai. Friends of the bride decorated the church with hydrangeas in pale shades of pink and blue. The Rev. F. C. Long was the officiating minister, ■and Mr. Smith played the'organ. During the signing of the register, Mr. AATiitehorn gave a solo. The bride, who was escorted by .her father wore a lovc-in-the-mist blue frock with a corsage spray of deep red roses’, and a small hat to match her frock.

A reception was held at the Grand Hotel by Air. and Airs. Rickman. Only immediate relatives and a few _ intimate family friends were received. The bride’s mother wore a smart black tailleur and black high-crowned hat; and the bridegroom’s mother was in a navy ensemble and matching hat. AVhen she left on her honeymoon, the bride wore a smart lamb’s wool coat over her wedding frock. The bridegroom is in the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
