BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED

Mr. and Mrs. Rymell Scantlebury celebrated their daughter Patricia’s coming-of-age at a party in their home nt Roseneath, Wellington, last Saturday night. The lounges were tastefully decorated with gladioli and coriopsls. The house made a charming setting with its glorious harbour view and surroundings. Parewanui AVomen’s Institute.

There was a large attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Parewanui AVomen’s Institute hel'd at Apa House on AVednesday, Mrs. AVhitehead presided. Mrs. Osborne and Miss Russell were appointed delegates to attend the group meeting at Ohakea: The members were reminded to send in their nominations for the new committee a fortnight before the annual meeting on March 13. The competition is to be a decorated table vase of flowers. An interesting demonstration on wreath making was given by Mrs. M. Homes. Soldiers’ Comforts’ Meeting. East Harbour residents are Invited to attend a meeting to be held in the council chambers today, February 12, at 8 p.m. in connexion with making comforts for the soldiers. The meeting will be held under the auspices of the Eastbourne subcentre of the Red Cross Society.
