INFORMAL HOSPITALITY

Reception In Australian Court At Exhibition

Warm hospitality and a delightful sense of informality characterized the large 5 o’clock reception given in the Australian Court at the Exhibition yesterday by the Australian Trude Commissioner, Mr. C. E. Critchley, and Mrs. Critchley in honour of .Senator the Hon. P. A. Al. Mcßride, Australian Government, representative at the New Zealand Centennial celebrations, and Mrs. .Mcßride.

The beautiful downstairs halls with their ceilings of sky blue, delicate pink walls and polished flooring were cool and airy and guests lingered in the pleasant surroundings for some time, quite a number going on to the Exhibition restaurant for dinner. Many people took the opportunity of again inspecting the exhibits, depicting Australian industries and natural resources and the photographic panels which supply unusual wall adornment. Guests wore welcomed in the entrance foyer by Mr. (•"id Mrs. Critchley and went on to meet Senator and Mrs. Mcßride. About 30 people attended, including representatives of the Government and Government departments, the three services, the Church, the con; sular corps, members of the Exhibition board of directors, the city council, harbour -board, many other representatives of civic and business life in Wellington and a large number of friends. Refreshments were set out on small modern tables and guests were charmingly looked after by the hostesses of the. "court, who were distinctive in their navy and cream ensembles. A corps of white-coated waiters deftly assisted. Mrs. Mcßride looked very becoming in an all black ensemble, high black hat with black not snood veil and a corsage spray of red roses. Mrs. Critcbley’s two-piece silk ensemble was of finely patterned flowers cm a chartreuse ground, worn with a straight brimmed black hat. Her flowers were pale pink and yellow roses.
