HOROWHENUA SHOW
Stock Well Up To Standard ENTRIES SLIGHTLY FEWER Dominion Special Service. LEVIN, January 26. Heavy rain in the morning considerably affected the first day attendance at the llorowhenua Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show today, but the weather cleared before noon ami the afternoon was mainly fine and sunny, with a further sharp shower about 4 o'clock. There was every indication this evening of an improvement in the weather, mid if tomorrow is tine there is expected to be a large crowd. Total entries number 1690, which is a slight decrease on last year’s, but the qualify of the live stock generally is fully up to previous standards and in some eases the judges considered it above average. This applies particularly to some classes in the Jersey section. The usual number of trade exhibits gave added interest to the show, and the sideshows attracted a fuil share of patronage. Tomorrow's attractions include judging in the horse section and a splendid programme of jumping and other competitions. pony races, and a full programme of national dancing. Arrangements for the show were capably handled by the secretary, Mr. J. A. Goodwin, and members of tlie committee, and exhibitors found little difficulty in quickly penning their entries.
