MANY REBUFFS

Street Day Collectors In Whangarei

By Telegraph—Press Association.

WHANGAREI, January 20.

Women in Whangarei are reluctant to make street collections for soldiers’ comforts. The reason stated is that so many rebuffs were experienced when a collection was made yesterday and only £53 was contributed compared with £l2O on the previous flag day held in November. A variety of excuses was met with, many people approached saying they did not believe in making contributions, while others claimed they had other things to do with their money.
