DISABLED SOLDIERS’ SHOP VISITED

Receives Gifts

.Despite the press of engagements and official business, Major-General B. C. Freyberg, V. 0., officer commanding the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, found time yesterday afternoon to visit the disabled soldiers’ shop in Farish Street, Wellington. He was obviously interested In the work of the disabled ex-servicemen and commented on the quality and the variety of the articles on display. On behalf of the disabled ex-soldiers connected with the manufacture of goods iu 'Wellington, Mr. F. Louden, Wellington district employment officer, presented Major-General Freyberg with a pair of gold cuff-links, set in paua shell, a silver powder-bowl inlaid with paua shell for his wife and a carved box of New Zealand woods in the form of a Maori whare for his son at school in England. In conversation with Mr. Louden, Major-General Freyberg, after expressing pleasure at the gifts, said that he was sorry that time did not permit him to visit the factory where the articles were made and that, had he known about the work being done, he would have made a point of doing so. During the visit, which lasted nearly half an hour, Major-General Freyberg bought for his wife two paua shell brooches and also purchased a set of cuff-links.
