Taurangi is a notable absentee from Christmas racing, but she will probably reappear at Marton at the New lear. She was sore prior to and after her win in the Waikato Cup. Disappointed. The Gascony three-year-old Hui disappointed her connexions at Woodville. She had galloped particularly well at home prior to the meeting, but she failed to run ou each day. Great Legion. , , Southern reports state that Great Legion, who was left at Itiecarton by G. W. New after the New Zealand Cup meeting, is likely to return to Awapuul. Waipa Starting Tinies. Official Scratching. Yours Truly, who is now in Australia, was scratched for the Auckland Cup* at J a.m. on Monday.
No Rehandicap. Beaupartir will not be rehandieapped in the Auckland Cup for bis win at Woodville.
Catalogue. . Catalogue arrived back from Australia in excellent order, but his .Auckland Cup engagement is doubtful and he may not race till the Wellington Cup meeting.
Private Trainer. L. W. Wells has been appointed private trainer to the whole of Mr. J. R. McKenzie’s trotting horses at Roydon Lodge.
Team Divided. . The Hastings trainer S. J. Keid has arranged the programme for his team for the holiday meetings. Beaulivre, Katbbeiln and Brunhild will go to Auckland. Barbara Miller, Yogi and Kobi are booked for Waipukurau. while the same trio, in addition to Norn Gregor and. Black Out, will compete at the Hawkes Bay New Year meeting.

Racing In England. There would 'be a wartime Grand National at Aintree, said die regional commissioner for the . North-Western Region (Sir Wurrcn Fisher), speaking at a dinner in Manchester early this month. “I have had trouble with the gloomy authorities iu Loudon,” he said, “about getting some horse racing. They said that they would not allow trains to run and any of the courses to open. They have already opened Manchester and 'Haydock, and we are going to have a Grand National at Aintree.” _ Nineteen yearlings owned by the Aga Khali, who is selling bis horses, brought 38,230 guineas at' Newmarket. The top price was 4000 guineas for Belim Hassan, a ibay colt by Hyperion (the Derby winner in 1933) out of Blandford’s half-sister, Blanche. The buyer was W. U. Goodbody, who owns several steeplechasers and hurdlers.
