Work On Te Rapa Tracks Dominion Special Service. HAMILTON. December 14. The flags were over 30 feet out from the rails on the course proper at Te Rapa this morning, but the splendid nature ol the going resulted in several smart trials being recorded, the best of the morning being six furlongs by Young Paddon ami Dark Shadow a<nd five furlongs by Tosh, Bronze Step and Ngawiri. The best effort over a round was that of Poland mid Foxseii. Conditions generally were pleasant. Dark Shadow (Gollop), assisted over the first half-mile by Respectful (Doyle) and Meadow (Gilmer), bit out over six furlongs iu 1.19 1-5, the first half-mile in 52 1-5. Dark Shadow, who has made good progress of late, rau to the lead early and was several lengths clear at the half-mile. He was doing his work pleasingly throughout amt is not without, prospects at 'Te Awamutu, where he is to be ridden by the apprentice V. Gollop. Ngawiri (Ensor) and Lady Waimai (Thomson) were associated over five furlongs. which they rau in 1.(1 4.5, their first three furlongs in 37 .1-5 and the halfmile in 52J. Ngawiri has been showing a return to her best ou the tracks of late and may soon be seen to advantage. Tosh (Long) wus shading Bronze Step (Gollop) over the deciding stages of five furlongs in 1.5 4-5, the first half-mile being cut out in 51. 4-5. Nithmount (Thomson) and Flashing Spear (Taylor) ran to the half-mile in 51 4-5, which was an attractive effort for horses of their class.

Wyndora (Long) and Tri Ilia reh (Cumerford) hit out over five furlongs_ in 1.7, their initial half-mile in 53 2-5. The former is making steady progress. The star gallop of the moruing was that of Young Paddon (Gollop), who, after running the first three furlongs in 37 1-5. the half-mile in 51 1-5, and five furlongs in 1.4 3-5, ran the full distance in 1.18 1-5. Young Paddon was carrying only a light weight and was galloping without shoes, but nevertheless the effort was a sound one and indicative of his forward condition.

Over the same distnnee Suleiman took IJ9. Beseige, Mho has been working consistently well, (lashr! over three furlongs in association with Te Mono-wai in 37. At Cambridge a fancied sprint candidate. Our Jean, hit out brilliantly over half a mile in 48 4-o.
