~ | Good Entries Expected For Dominion Event I LIKELY COMPETITORS The number of bauds competing in the New Zealand pipe band contest at Athletic Bark, Wellington, on January 2(> .and 27, would equal, ami possibly exceed, the entries received last year, said the secretary at a meeting of the Dominion pipe band contest committee recently. Mr. C. Stewart presided. Several bands had already booked accommodation, and others had intimated their intention of eomi'eting. said the secretary. The probable entrants were the Ruahine Highland I’ipe Band, City of Christchurch Ripe Band, Wa- | nganui Highland I’ipe Band, Manawatu Society’s Pipe Band. Wellington Caledonian Society’s l’i|«? Band. Hastings Scottish Society’s Pipe Band, Fcilding Caledonian Pipe Baud, Wairarapa College Pipe Band. Canterbury Caledonian Society’s I’ipe Band, Wellington Police Highland Pipe Bund, Scottish Society of Now Zealand’s Pipe Band, Pipes and Drums. Ist Battalion Wellington Regiment, City of Wellington I’ipe Baud and Scots College I’ipe Band. The secretary was authorized to book the Town Hall for the evenings of January 26 and 27 for tho test selections. It wa.s resolved that a combined display by the Wellington pipe bands be held in Athletic Park on a. Sunday in December.
