CHRISTCHURCH, November 13. 1 Five persons were injured when a ’ ear and a truck collided on the corner '■ of Timaru Road and Deep Stream ; Road, near Waimate, yesterday moru- ’ ing. Three women passengers in the 1 truck were taken to hospital, one, Mrs. ' W. Barbour, of Hook, being seriously ‘ injured. The accident happened- about 10.30 a.m„ when Lionel Egbert. Eaton, an ' accountant, of Timaru, who had visited Waimate on business in the morning, was returning to Timaru. ' Travelling alone on the Timaru Road, bls ear came info collision with the ' light half-ton truck driven by James William Barbour a honey farmer, of 1 Hook, striking tho truck on the right side near the driver’s seat when it came from the Deep Stream road. Mrs. Kate Watts was in the cab of the truck with the driver, and his mother, Mrs. Barbour, and Mrs. 11. J. Arbuckle were in the back. Both men suffered cuts and abrasions. The extent of Mrs. Barbour’s injuries wore not known Last night, but her condition was reported as being unchanged. The condition of the other { two women was given as satisfactory.
