VOLUNTARY AIDES
Training At Public Hospital
Twenty voluntary aides from the Order of St. Joint and 20 from the Now Zealand Keil Cross Society have begun their clinical instruction at the Wellington Public Hospital. These aides already hold a certificate in home nursing, hygiene, and first aid from their respective societies, and in order to get. some practical experience of such duty, it has been decided that they undertake at least 60 hours . a year in a public hospital. This period is to be spread over 15 attendances of four hours each. It Ims been arranged that. -40 members visit tlie wards twice weekly (S hours weekly) in order to cover their curriculum of practical instruction. The various supervisors have taken over the supervision and teaching of these aides. Tlie superintendent of the hospital, Dr. A. R. Thorne, stated at last night’s meeting of the Wellington Hospital Board that the supervisors reported that all the pupils were taking an interest in their work. tVhen trained they would be of considerable assistance should their services be required.
