GOLDEN WEDDING
Pastor and Mrs. Legarth
A happy gathering took place recently in Norsewood when the golden wedding of Pastor and Mrs. Legarth was celebrated. Pastor Christensen, .Palmerston North, whose father was best man at the wedding 50 years ago, held a short service in the Lutheran Church, after which all present were entertained at a dinner by relatives residing in Norsewood. A beautiful three-tiered wedding cake, made by Mrs. J. Legarth and iced by Mrs. Culliford adorned the table. Several telegrams' were read, including messages from relatives in Denmark and from eight grandchildren in Omana. After the breakfast, Pastor Legarth told those present of his call to enter the ministry and related several experiences during his services. He expressed the happiness of Mrs. Legarth and himself .‘it having so many of their children, grandchildren and friends present. Many presents were received from relations and friends, among these being a carpet runner and bedroom rug from their children. Pastor Legarth was ordained minister in Makaretu on September 1 50 years ago. Pastor and Mrs. Legarth had a family of six children, four of whom are still living. The sons are Frederick and Paul, Whaugarei; John, Noreswood; and the one daughter is Mrs. J. Hansen, Norsewood. There are 14 grandchildren.
Guests at the gathering were: Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Olsen, who were guests at the wedding 50 years ago; Pastor and Mrs. Christensen and family, Palmerston North; Mrs. I. Murray, Mr. Thomasons. Members of the family present were: Mr. and Mrs. F. Legarth, Whangarei; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Legarth, Whangarei; Mr. and Mrs. John Legarth, Norsewood; Mr. and Mrs. J. Hansen. The grandchildren (eight) present, were: Sydney and William Legarth, Margaret, Enoch, Hope, and Joy Hansen.
