CHRISTMAS CAROLS
Concert To Assist Free Kindergarten
The Wellington Free Kindergarten Association depends very largely upon the generosity of its friends for the maintenance of its work. An outstanding offer of assistance this year lias been made by the principal of Rongotal Boys’ College, Mr. F. M. Renner. With the interest and co-operation of the music master, Mr. J. Todd McCaw, the college choir work for the year has been chosen with a view to undertaking the greater part of the programme for a Christinas carol concert, in aid of the Wellington Free Kindergarten.
The choir, which will number 400 voices, will give groups of carols, and will lead community carols. This work will be supplemented by several leading artists, including Mrs. Wilfred Andrews; the Women’s Centennial String Orchestra, conducted by Madam Betts-Vincent; a male quartet, arranged by Mr. Temple White, and other artists. Mr. Maxyell Ferine will be at the organ. The items chosen for the programme include some of the most beautiful Christmas carols, and the audience is assured of a delightful evening’s entertainment.
The Wellington association hopes that this may be the first of an annual Christmas concert. This year it will be held at the end of October in order to avoid clashing with other entertainments in connexion with the Centennial Exhibition.
Further particulars of the concert will be given later, but in the meantime all interested are asked to note the date, Saturday, October 28, in the Town Hall, and to keep it free. It is seldom that the Wellington public has such an opportunity of listening to a boys’ choir, nor of singing carols to the leadership of a choir of this size.
