Brown Shield Game Off Advice that because of the petrol shortage the representative Soccer match between Manawatu, the holders, and Hawke’s Bay for the Brown Shield had had to be abandoned was received at yesterday’s meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association. The secretary of the Hawke's Bay association wrote stating that arrangements had been made for the Hawke’s Bay team to return after the match by ear, but the petrol restrictions had made this impossible. Hawke’s Bay asked for a mutch next season. ... The South Auckland association wrote advising that the Fordham Shield had been won by the Hamilton schools association and the junior trophy (Balfour Irvine Cup) by North Shore, Auckland. Mr. Frank Campbell presided and there were also present Messrs. J. A. Milburn, P. Mackenzie. E. C. Hollis, W. L. Wilson, B. Martin, H. H. A. Renai, W. B. Hicks and J. H. Dick.
